Information about highway, footpath and drainage maintenance in the parish
Parish Footpaths Officer
The council’s Parish Footpaths Officer is Councillor Lissy Tomlinson, who is responsible for monitoring the condition of public rights of way within the parish and liaising with Herefordshire Council on footpath matters. Residents are welcome to contact the council with any footpath concerns via the clerk at clerk@welshnewtonllanrothalgroup-pc.gov.uk.
Highway and drainage maintenance
The Parish Council works within the Herefordshire Council Lengthsman Scheme to support the maintenance of highways and drainage within the parish. The council has signed the Herefordshire Council Lengthsman Agreement for 2026/27, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to maintaining the local highway network.
The council previously contracted with a lengthsman for this work. Following a competitive procurement exercise in 2026 in which no applications were received, the council resolved at its meeting on 14 May 2026 (item 15.1) to adopt a multi-contractor piecemeal commissioning model for 2026/27, while a further formal procurement exercise is considered.
The council also actively seeks external funding for highway, footpath and drainage improvements within the parish, including grant funding from Herefordshire Council.
The Jubilee Walk
The parish has a waymarked circular walk known as the Jubilee Walk. A route map is available below. Further information about the walk and the parish’s public rights of way network is being developed by the Parish Footpaths Officer.
